Project Boombox is a team Final Major Project shared between myself and two environment artists, where over a 10-week production phase timespan we created an apartment setting with two characters to produce a video cinematic showcasing their daily lives.
Check out by blog post about how I created these characters below!

The setting is 1985, but with light cassette futurism elements suggesting an alternate timeline. Steering away from cyberpunk, we wanted to craft something that felt nostalgic and yet novel.

For the project I created two characters: Edie, an edgy gadgeteer who repairs tech parts to get by, and Melissa, a trendy waitress with a love of fashion. As this was for a cinematic, I prioritised visual fidelity over real-time performance.

As we were very excited by its release, we created our cinematic using Unreal Engine 5 Early Access, taking advantage of Lumen and improved shadows.
